RECs
1. What is REC mechanism?
 
There are two components in the power we produce. One is pure power and second one is Renewable Energy Certificate tradable on the Exchanges.
   
2. Who will buy RECs?
 
The distribution utilities, open access consumers, etc., have Solar Power Purchase Obligations which is set by their respective State Regulator Commissions. For example in Andhra Pradesh it is 0.25% as of now.
   
3. What is the current price of solar REC?
  CERC fixed solar REC band as Rs.9.30-13.40/unit for 2012-2017.
   
4. Do you consider income from REC to calculate the viability of the project?
 
No. We sign only bankable PPAs without revenue from RECs. Income from RECs is a bonus.
   
5. Is there any special use of the solar policy of the State Government?
  Not much except required permissions and grid connectivity.
